Understanding the Downward Thrust 5 Minute Alert
This alert is the same as the other downward thrust alerts, but it works on a 5 minute chart instead of a 2 and 15 minute chart.
Default Settings
By default, Downward Thrust (5 Minute) alert appears when a stock's 8 period SMA and its 20 period SMA have both been going down for each of the last 5 periods.
Custom Settings
For 'Downward Thrust (5 Minute)' alerts, you have the option to use an alert specific filter. This filter is located immediately to the right of the corresponding alert and is always optional. You can decide to leave it blank if you want to receive more alerts, or you can fill it in to restrict the number of alerts you receive. This filter allows you to specify the quality of the alert. When you set a higher number for this filter, you are telling the alerts server to display only alerts that meet a higher quality standard, resulting in fewer alerts being shown.
When setting an alert for 'Downward Thrust (5 Minute)', the user can filter these alerts based on the suddenness of the move. If the stock takes off in one direction or the other, but the 200 period SMA is flat, then this move is considered very sudden. The flatter the 200 period SMA, the closer the quality value will be to 100.
There is no lowest possible value for this field. However, most alerts will have a value above 90. Roughly speaking, a value of 0 would mean that the 200 period moving average moved all the way from the bottom of the chart to the top of the chart.
Description Column
The description of the alert will give a more comprehensive breakdown of the 8 and 20 period SMA.
Quality Column
